Description
One pre-calibrated stimulus reduces surface tension and viscosity by 2 to 3 % and can double
the mass gas transfer rate across the air-water interface. The changes are reversible.
Applications include: low cost oxygenation of very large waterbodies, improving waste water
processing (sludge management, malodours, and water quality), water remediation
(cyanobacteria blooms, mass fish kills, and water quality), enhanced evaporation from
mining tailings, and reduction in greenhouse gas emission from very large waterbodies.
The set of stimuli affects the quantum state of the water molecules in the most immediate area
surrounding the transducer. To restore equilibrium with the affected water molecules, the
adjacent water molecules adopt slight changes to their inter-molecular structure; this change
in equilibrium structure can extend to a circular area of ~20 hectares in still water with and
extended zone of influence in slow-flowing water.
Each EMF device weighs ~10 kg and measures 50 cm in diameter. The devices are deployed as
buoys, floating on the water, anchored to sediment or tethered to land and controlled on-site
via the EMFConnect app (available on Android with Bluetooth) or remotely through web-based
applications. Maintenance is minimal, requiring only biweekly cleaning of the solar panels and
the stimuli transmission module.
